Chasity Clayton
Clayton's Places

Posted Mon, 05/14/2007 - 20:33 Like many of the top 2008 prospects, Chasity Clayton is weighing her options carefully, and still has a school list that includes 14 programs.

Reflecting her status as one of the top 2008 prospects in the East, Chasity Clayton of Thomas Edison High School in Alexandria, Va., has a working school list that is 14 strong.
The 14 include Boston College (offered), Florida State (offered), George Washington (offered), Georgetown (offered), James Madison (offered), Louisville (offered), Miami (offered), North Carolina, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse (offered), Temple and Virginia.

Clayton, the No. 28 overall prospect in the country, according to HoopGurlz.com, also has been getting recent interest from the likes of Duke, Georgia, LSU, Maryland, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt, according to her club coach, James Nichols of Team Unique.
"Chasity's getting attention from about a third of the Big Ten Schools, about half of the SEC schools, about two-thirds of the Big East schools, and almost every ACC school," Nichols said. "Pretty much every high-mid-major east of the Mississippi has offered. She's listening to people; but these are the 14 that she's focusing on for right now."
At 6 feet 1, Clayton has taken to a transition from post to the wing like a fish to water. She is extremely long and explosive. She has an innate ability to stay low on her penetrations and slither through defenses. Her length and athleticism also make her a force on defense.
Clayton told HoopGurlz last month that she is looking for a top medical program and wants to become a heart surgeon or pediatrician. Clayton, her parents, Nichols and Thomas Edison coach Dianne Lewis plan to meet near the end of June to further sort out her schools. By then, she and Team Unique will have played at the Nike Midwest Showdown in Cincinnati, the Charlotte Royals' fund-raising tournament in Charlotte, and the Temple University and University team camps.
"Like a lot of other high-end 2008s, is taking her time to sort all of these people out, what with all of these coaching-staff changes still going on," Nichols said.. "The 14 is a working list - so she doesn't get overwhelmed - and she may add to, or subtract from, this list, based on what's going on; but, she'll be down to her five-to-visit by the end of August."
