Glad to have you aboard!!

Glad to have you aboard!! See you at Storrs!!!!

WHAT ABOUT LSU????

Uconn and Tennessee are obviously going to be powerhouses, but what about LSU?? They have 4 great freshmen coming in next year, Lasondra Barrett, Crystal Riley, Taylor Turnbow and Courtney Jones, all ranked in the hoopgurlz top 100. Dont forget April Sykes has long been a LSU lean. Add those players with Allison Hightower , Kristin Morris, Latear Eason and Katherine graham, LSU could be rite up there with Uconn and Tennessee.

UConn in 2009, hands down ????

Hmmm.... Seems a bit too early to make a statement like that. Granted, UConn will have a great team but you shouldn't forget that the The UT Lady Vols have the #1 class for this year as well as either the #1 or #2 class for 2008. Also , several other teams have great classes coming in. Look at Baylor a few years ago. They won it all with absolutely no blue-chip players.

Baylor had a Blue Chip Player

They had Sophia Young in 05' and Blackman and Nieman were huge for them

UCONN will be NCAA champs in

UCONN will be NCAA champs in 09 without a doubt with EDD and Mayamazing on the same team with Charles in the post and Lorin and caroline passing the ball. UT willwin again this season, but the next 4 years after that will be UCONN. hands down.

sup

hey jermy201

i just wanna say you are wrong my friend uconn will win the ncaa championship this year also i think they have the team to do this year . so think again uconn all the way this year man come see me in april when uconn cut down the net in tampa

Vols loss is UConn's gain

Even as a Lady Vol fan I was hoping you would choose Middle Tennessee, I think having you there would take them to the next level quickly.

Good luck at UConn!

Congrats and Welcome!!

It is a great honor to have you play for UCONN, Elena. Welcome and enjoy yourself at UCONN.

Congratulations, Elena!

Congratulations on your decision, Elena. You have made what I consider to be a wise decision, through which you will be: one, attending one of the best public universities in the country; two, playing for one of the strongest coaching staffs in the business; three, surrounded by arguably the most talented, hard working, and honorable group of teammates in Women's College Basketball; and four, supported by the most basketball savvy, loyal and adoring fans in the nation.

I am sure that your stay in Connecticut will be a happy and fruitful one. We in the stands look forward to seeing you at Gampel.

--One of the Mel guys.

Congrats.......

I am happy that you were able to make a decision on what college you are going to attend. I am bet you are happy that you are able to finally get to relax and have some fun playing basketball. I am also glad that you will still be relativity close to your family, because I know that they are very very important to you. Have a great time this year and four years of UCONN basketball.

Role Model

First i want to say i think what your doing is great and i think you need this time away from the world of recruiting battles and focus on what will always be number one in your life, FAMILY!

Don't pay any attention to the comments expressing interest in you to replace Parker at UT, those people coming on here to praise you and then elect you as the replacement for Parker, obviously don't understand why you are on this hiatus...UT is on their own to pick up the pieces when seniors graduate, it's not up to you at all. You need to make a decision that best suits you and your family values and for your education/athletics. you are truly a remarkable person for being able to shun the media out while you take this break. Proof, you can be a smart kid, elite basketball player and family oriented, while being in control of your decisions. A Role Model and for that great things will happen when you make your decision. you'll be successful where ever you go and whatever you pursue!!

Way to Go Elena

It takes a big person to stop thinking about yourself & think about others. When you come back to the pressures of choosing a school you will make the right choice. I think you would make a great replacement for Parker at UT. I would coach heart long before coaching talent. And you got HEART girl!

Taking a break

Taking a Break...
On July 20th, 2007 UC-UBet says:
Wow, I am impressed with your decision to get away from the craziness of the recruiting scene! I am obviously a UCONN fan and would love to watch you play here, but as a high school coach (volleyball), I understand the pressures that kids your age are dealing with and applaud your taking a stand. The reason I am writing is more about your desire to possibly become a special ed teacher. I am a SPED teacher and I have worked with every form of exceptionality, including autism, and I was blown away by your commitment to your family and, especially your sister, Elizabeth. Our profession needs more people like you and I wish you the best in your college career (wherever that may be). Enjoy your time off and keep up the volunteering (it's good for the soul).

Take your time, Elena

As a UCONN grad, it would be great to have Elena playing for the Huskies. But the key here is, SHE has to decide where she wants to play.

I was stunned that her name, along with Maya Moore, came up in the whole UCONN/Tennessee reason to stop playing each other, that was pretty low.

Either way, she will make up her mind and we all can move on. Do what is best for you, Elena.

Your Future

Ms. Donne - Make wise decisions. There is a difference between your heart's desire and your head's sense. Let's hope that the difference is small. Since you have the ability and desire to be a most wonderful basketball player, the only thing left is to apply those traits. Best wishes for your future.

Hey, Elana

Hey Elana.
I just wanted to say that you are an amazing basketball player and I was inspired at the camp I went to with my aunt to see you. I wish the best of luck to you in college!

It doesn't matter what colors she wears

Orange and light blue or orange and white are both acceptable. Do you think she could replace Candace Parker?

She needs to take her time!

I'm a Lady Vol fan (hence my sign-on!), so naturally I hope she will come to Tennessee. But there is no reason for her to rush this decision. It is only in part about basketball...and academics....it's also about family and relationships and where her heart feels the most comfortable. I hope she will take her official visits & not let anyone try to rush her decision. She should follow her heart and land where she feels at home.

UUUM?!?

I don't thinck she could replace Candace it's more of she can play to the level of a go-to player like Candace is. You never replace a Lady Vol because it's all a family in Knoxville. But she can be as big as an impact player Candace is.

Elena's College Decision

Either school Elena chooses it will more than likely be a Division 1 university, so it really doesn't matter where she goes just as long as it's Division1, I prefer UConn for her, but it's her decision. she's smart she will choose wisely.

UCONN

Elena is coming to Uconn baby!!!
Diana Taurasi who?????????

Taurasi who???

First I just want to say that I am an Oklahoma fan that has tremendous respect for both Tennessee and UCONN. The coach's at both school, despite their apparent feud with each other, are talented, respectful and bring class and legitimacy to women's basketball. In response to practicemakesperfect comment, I feel that comment is highly disrespectful. At Oklahoma Courtney Paris has broken almost every record imaginable and had a greater impact on Oklahoma athletics than any single player to set foot on Norman's campus. But we don't go around saying Stacey Dales who????? Diana Taurasi was a dynamic player that led UCONN to several National Championships and more than one undefeated season. One of those National Championship games was played against OU and Stacey Dales. Don't discount your history for hype. Maybe Della Donne will be that type of player, but at this point you don't know. Be excited for your future, but always respect your past. BOOMER SOONER!!!

Elena

Haha i'm friends with her on facebook. She seems like she is a very nice girl and I hope she comes to uconn but in general wherever she goes, I just can't wait to see her play on the colllege level.

How sad.. leave the young lady alone..

Let Elena decide which school she wants to go to on her own. Telling her she would look great in orange is desperate. Besides Elena seems like the type of kid who is interested in academics and not just basketball.

Elena, Would love to see you

Elena, Would love to see you come to Knoxville and play for the Lady Vols. Look foward to seeing you anywhere you choose to go. Don't let people discourage you from MTSU either. Have a son there and it is a wonderful school

hey elena!

you're an amazing player and you'll make an incredible addition to whatever team you choose

I agree...... Choose the

I agree...... Choose the place for YOU. YOU will be playing and living at the campus, so make sure that YOU love where you go! Best to you...

The Comments above proves the validity of her decision

True fans of women's basketball identify with their team and support one and all. We all hope our team recruits qualilty players (however you want to define quality).

Many multisport fans unfortunately see players on their (favorite sports teams) as athletes only, individuals who if they play hard can do anything ourside the sport.

A 17 year old said I want to take a break because of chaos around me during a time I want to make the best decision for me. She is using that time to volunteer and appreciate time with less fortunate youth. What an intelligent decision, along with an honest plea to allow her to breathe. Her decision is about her well-being .

Frankly after reading the great interview I wonder how many other young women would also like to take the same break.
