Lily Svete, a 6-foot-2 junior forward from Granger, Ind., has verbally committed to Amanda Butler and the Florida Gators. She chose the Gators from a final list that included Northwestern, Penn State and Purdue.

Svete works hard on both ends of the floor and takes advantage of her length on the defensive end. A physical player who doesn't mind contact near the basket, she can also step out to three-point range.

Florida had five juniors and one senior on the team, giving the Gators at least four more scholarships in the 2009 class. The class is considered a great class for post players, and Florida is getting itself off to a good start with Svete.

6-4 post Azania Stewart, from nationally ranked Notre Dame Academy (Middleburg, Va.), heads Florida's three Class of 2008 signings.

Svete was named to the Indiana All-State First Team this season. She finished her junior season averaging more than 17 points and 10 rebounds for Penn High School (Mishawaka, Ind.), a nice improvement over the 11 points and 7 rebounds she averaged as a sophomore. She is also listed as one of the adidas Super 64 and will be featured on the Indiana Elite club team this month at the adidas Super South Showcase in Rock Hill, S.C.
