About HoopGurlz Rankings
| HoopGurlz.com Rankings |
|
We began ranking women's college-basketball prospects with the Class of 2006. Our policy is that we only evaluate, rate (star ratings) and rank players that we actually see - either in person (preferred) or on full-game video. As such, we do not rank on hearsay, reputation or third-party information. It also does not matter if the player plays in the summer, in high school only, is on a team sponsored by any particular companies or is independent. Nor does it matter how authoritative or reliable the source of any recommended ranking may be perceived.
We use various criteria in our evaluation; however, performance is not one of them. By "performance" we mean results and statistics. Results (how a player played, as opposed to what a player does or can do) and statistics can be extremely misleading, inconsistent and out of the control of the athlete. We therefore look at factors such as size, build, athleticism, skills and attitude - all of which usually are abundantly apparent every time the athlete is playing basketball.
This policy, for us and in our opinion, is the only fair and defensible way to do our rankings. Please do not try to convince us to change our stance.
Our policy sometimes leads to missing players who deserve to be ranked. We understand this. We ask that our users understand that our rankings never are written in stone, as they might be on other websites or in print. Our database is flexible and real-time, and we are happy to add players to or adjust our rankings and ratings at any time. If you believe we have missed someone, please send us information and background, and whether the player has video available or if there is a reasonable opportunity to view the player in person. To submit leads or supply profile information, please use our Contact form and choose the appropriate category. |
